I received access to AI in May of this year and used smaller models a lot in May, June, and July. Haiku 4.5 is terrible for coding. This month Luna was added and it's incredibly capable. I have to reach for a better model 1/50 times instead of 1/2 or 1/3 with Haiku. Luna is better and cheaper than the Haiku and Sonnet models I've been spending most of my time with.

At least with a TUI you know 100% it works with the keyboard. This is not something you can safely assume about any GUI, on the web or otherwise. Our accessibility team is kept very busy by this fact.
Do you actually manage devices for kids? It's a massive pain fine tuning all the controls on Apple, and the only way to really be sure is to completely ban the web browser and the app store (and probably more things I have missed). Now do this for multiple kids.
Most parents can't be bothered, especially if they are non-technical and intimidated by settings. And so they give their kids unrestricted devices. I think I read the average first exposure to pornography is now age 7. I'm speaking from experience as many parents I've talked to have thrown up their hands because they can't keep their elementary aged kid from using the ipad all night, despite there being an extremely easy screen time fix for that very problem.
I am technical enough to understand how to do all this, but even then I encounter many bugs in the parental controls, for example one kid is able to use Safari despite my blocking, even though they are on an identical device to another child who is successfully blocked.
There are infinite content sources now, and it's not possible to manage them all 1-by-1.
All that being said, broadcasting device user age should be completely opt-in for those who want it, and not mandated for every customer.

That's unimaginable to me. Most of the writers I read publish infrequently. Email is great. I don't have to be on any social media. Articles come in and I can read them at my leisure.
I deployed my own RSS reader to handle sites that update infrequently. That's still ultimately a pull, I just have an agent doing the pulling, and then I visit the site for my reader.
This is like saying that because some (or many) people are bad at taking notes and highlighting, taking notes and highlighting is a bad idea. It's a skill like anything else. You get better at it the more you do it.
I don't know about you, but when I re-read a book 20 years later it's unlikely I'll have that trapper keeper handy. Re-reading something later and seeing my younger thoughts is magical.
The purpose of the fake birthday is not to protect random website credentials. It's to prevent someone with that data from walking into my bank and impersonating me. I started giving a fake birthday after being shocked by how little info some organizations needed to authenticate me.
Alternatively, you can easily add the bloat, discover if it has real value, and then strip it without the bad feeling of having sunk countless hours creating it. Vibe coding is excellent for making the first prototype to throw away.
