I didn't like it at the time either. My sense following the news was that it was less arbitrary than it seemed at first, but I'm against restrictions on making existing models public in general.

Your comment really brought me back to my first job out of college, I worked for Tower Records (RIP) as a call center customer service rep. Tower was known for being the best place to find rare classical recordings, and I recall the Hyperion label as being well respected. It always fun to talk to our customers that were classical and jazz aficionados.

If you're interested in healthcare IT look into becoming an Epic admin. Hospitals and clinics want RNs with a tech background for those roles, and they pay really well (~150k here in CA)

yeah in time im hoping to mix my 17 years in creative tech with my new healthcare career. Hopefully get back to the money I was making, but humbled and happy to start at the bottom again for stability and always have a job waiting if needed. At least until the healthcare field gets filled with others like me.

I was in the IBEW when I was doing basic tech support for HawaiianTel 15 years ago... making $15/hr, union dues were nothing even at that wage and they rarely ever go up.

Lol. IBEW is the best union. THE BEST. My gf worked at macys making $15 an hour and had to pay to a union too. They laid her off, but the union still wanted dues on her way out. No, they are not worth it. If you are making $15 an hour no, no the union is not good for you.

The union negotiated pay schedule is what allowed me to go from $15/hr to $30/hr in 2.5 years... WORTH IT!

As a country, we spend nearly as much on domestic police (~$250B) as China does on their military each year. And from what I've seen, there is no correlation with increases in police spending and drops in crime rates. It's pretty disturbing if you think about it.
