Golden HN rule: the more complaints, the more successful the product will turn out because normal people like it. It’s like the inverse Cramer.

Maybe, but I would argue the Vision Pro is a devkit.

The Reddit Rule: The more votes someone gets for bitching about something, the more popular that thing is in the Real World.

Like on the post about the No Man's Sky update: "Oh these devs have been putting out free updates for 10 years? So what? I don't like it"

The worst thing about cynical-for-the-sake-of-being-cynical goons is that they drown out the actual legitimate complains and concerns about something.

Things were simpler in the Slashdot/iPod era.

No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame.

When the patent trolls die down and accuracy improves.

All folding phones will converge to this.

Z Fold 8 already has this form factor, just without the giant corners so the front/inside screen are symmetrical on both axes and share the same radius.

Exactly, most Chinese/Eastern brands already standardised on the passport form factor, which is also why Apple chose it I guess. It has aspect ratio benefits.

They must bend and flex, or they will crumple. Soon they will congregate, enclosed within the fold.

Who knows? :) I have to say that for me, making something physical is a greatly fulfilling diversion.

Yep, feels nice to work in both mental problems as well as physical ones.

Yeah, exactly. I cannot wait to use this to take care of the boring stuff.

16 is fine if you don’t connect your phone to rhe internet, or use sms.

I suspect it just hasn’t been a priority problem in the past. This could very well have been a premature optimization when compared to getting services up and running reliably.

They've had cdn forever. How could cutting storage and bandwidth needs by 2/3 not have been a priority...?

Both were incredibly cheap until a few years ago, but I have no insights into their business.

I think for that to happen we may need to replace one or two VP’s. But hey, maybe in the next MacOS Apple has used Claude to work through all the bugs and deferred optimizations.

TIL Flipboard is still alive.
