I really do think its tge case. Ever notice how juuust when you run out of usage its allllmost correct? then the handy helpful "buy more credits!" link pops up. Meanwhile local models are finishing the task without fucking around and without alterting shit it wasnt supposed to touch.
How is it a environmental catastrophe level, datacentre requiring, bullshit model is so much worse than something that runs on my workstation and doesn't cost us a ha itable planet?
Either they're fucking with us serving 8b models at scale or china really has the AI race in the bag so much so that they can openly release what the USA jealously guards.
They moan and complain about china copying from them (while doing the same), but if that's the case in full, then why are the chinese models better? you dont copy bad work and come out ahead.

I had an email conversation with Dr Tim King, before enrolling into electronics and CS (around age 15?). This conversation definitely confirmed this choice. He was very helpful and kind, explaining a lot about the OS level, how bcpl was used and how to develop for a new platform and the challenges. I remember this fondly and often hoped to thank him at some point. RIP
Seeing the message on that day shocked me, as I hoped he would attend some Amiga meetup. I am unfortunately in Asia these days, so it makes it harder. Regardless, he was legendary and for me the crown on my Amiga history, it really made me who I am now.
Renoise is a great tol, but in some cases a bit too feature packed for some people. I do see it used a lot, and I also occasionally do. But playback of a .mod/.med is much easier and 'guaranteed' among devices, this is why I prefer it; more self-contained.
And yes, trackers are great tools and with a bit of integration, like program change message, they can even provide this experience to MIDI. I use a bunch of tools I created for music making, live performance etc. trackers are almost always at the center of this for me.
A VST is not similar to what the Live extension can do. I use redux, but it is always a slightly less integrated experience, as the extension, but extensions at the moment are also not fully featured yet. In short, both have a purpose. I also converted some of my tools to both, by either writing actual MIDI data into Ableton, and otherwise, be controlled by the DAW as a VST; I work on Regroove, which is a Protracker and (Octa)MED replayed library, which can convert from and to several other formats and can be used even in a Drumlogue to playback a .mod as a groovebox like use, with looping, etc.
Usually it would not make a lot of sense. Long distance driving is OK, but within the city a car is often a burden, especially as a tourist as rush hour and parking are problematic. 1st tier cities have good public transport, which often gets priority anyway during rush hour. And yes, got my license while having a Z-visa many moons ago.
Note: Beijing and Shanghai are older and have less parking within the inner city, as Shenzhen is more a planned city (in the 80s it was mostly still farming land), so they have parking garages, etc.
I boycot Sony since they blocked my PSN account, which got hacked due to them! Purchases I made are not available, ... I really took a disliking before when they refused to fix my Vaio laptop, ... this was the last drop!
Good, but only laws will keep them on check.
If I boycotted all companies that have done something wrong, I would boycott all of them. I keep that option for the worst offenders. Laws and regulations is what keeps companies in check.
I am considering to still psuh them to re-instate my account (EU law), but they will stop the PS3 store too. Double ff-edff news from them, as that was the a generation with many downloadable content.
