The Gov't of Canada uses google maps and apparently don't have the country setting that dictates which version of Lake Ontario/America users see - so Canadians using their site get the US (Lake America).

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/google-updates-maps-lake-onta...

Having experienced fed gov't IT projects I'm guessing it'll take 6-8 weeks and cost $500K-$750K to update that setting. /s

Graphene on Razr Ultra - YES! Can't come soon enough.

I'm sold as well!

I regularly support Windows users and when I do, I cringe at just how awful the experience is! (My daily driver for the last decade have been various flavours of linux)

High end Windows 10/11 machines (like my Alienware I9 w/ 64GB mem + RTX4090) seem a bit sluggish. Low end machines with Windows are absolutely painful to use!

I've install debian onto my fairly ancient Lenovo X201 Tablet and it is exceptionally snappy.

> I've install debian onto my fairly ancient Lenovo X201 Tablet and it is exceptionally snappy.

I'm running Debian since Debian 1.1 (1.1, not 11). My install has always been very lean: a minimal WM I love.

Computers have only ever gotten fast and Linux more optimized.

It's extremely snappy indeed and feels like it. The problem is what happens inside browsers: are great many websites are just lame. So many pointless connections to so many pointless "telemetry" services, trying to track your every single habit/clicks. Just open the dev tools and look at all the trafic exchanged: that's where the bloat is.

The SV JavaScript "punch the monkey" ads bros at work.

Carney is one of the most popular "Liberal" PMs west of Ontario in decades. His popularity in Alberta is higher than Daniel Smith. This can only be good for Canada as a whole IMHO.

Probably the most evil PMs that we have ever had. Literally a international banker! Its like electing the monopoly man lol.

Nope, the pure evil award goes to Stephen Harper. He literally auctioned off and trashed decades of paper scientific research reports to get rid of all of those pesky climate statistics.

Yawn. Can you imagine 2026 and people are still into climate change. You are like 3 seasons out of fashion.

Yes, go back to sleep. I will always be out of fashion when the hip look is being an ostrich with it's head up it's butt.

Oh wow. Canadians should have elected PP or Jagmeet with known ties to extremist organizations or maybe give another chance to JT to ruin the country.

Not to rain on your parade about known ties to extremist organizations but I would count Carney's contacts more extreme - and certainly more believable - than those Poilievre might be accused of having (which would those be?). I'd rather not have a globalist banker leading my country, fortunately I'm not a Canadian. I considered moving there in 2002 but I moved to Sweden instead and count my blessings ever since.

> clean your [item]

Anecdote: I gave an apprentice a small vacuum to fix, when he opened it up several live bed bugs emerged. That was fun! /s

In my experience most vacuums are 'broken' because they aren't cleaned.

“If you can fix it, you can have it”

‹pulls out a giant clog of hair and carpet strands from the hose between the head and the motor›

I've been involved for several years. If you don't yet have one in your area, are handy at fixing things and have the inclination - contact them for info on starting one up.

"get one of your factories turning out brand new copies of the 1966 Mustang fastback. You’ve still got the plans, right? Don’t change a thing. Leave out all the improvements"

I.e. OP suggests FORD leave out all the modern safety improvements (air bags, crumple zones, ABS brakes) this is exactly the argument the GOP have about capitalism: regulations simply stand in the way of profits.

The whole article is narrow minded and short sighted IMHO.

> symbols need to be lit

100% this.

One of my absolute favorite keyboard designs: G915 TKL Lightspeed got relegated to the donation pile because the symbols were NOT backlit. Such a dumb design choice to save a few cents IMHO.

Because it's backlit I'm guessing changing the eclectic number row design isn't an option that can be easily changed (for this version anyway).

The usual way of doing backlight is by having the LED underneath the switch and letting the switch transmit the light upwards. Many switches have special cutout positions for this, so the lighting for all the square keys is identical.

The only issue is that the keycap itself needs to be partially translucent and partially opaque, so rather than laser-etching or printing a legend they need to be "double-shot"[0], which means a two-phase injection molding process. This makes altering of the keycaps quite expensive as you need a new set of molds - which is especially bad if you were using one mold to produce an entire set of keycaps at once.

It's definitely doable to ship it with two different number rows, but it's the kind of thing you really want to know at the very start.

Here's hoping Pixel releases a flip phone 11 and Graphene support follows.

The Motorola razr has crease issues that they seem to want to ignore and Samsung has locked down their phones so root is impractical.

> Motorola razr has crease issues that they seem to want to ignore

Details please?

The razr forum on reddit has some examples.

It doesn't seem extremely common, but the reports are for phones that are relatively new - not even two years of use.
