AI raises everything - the ceiling is just being more productive. Productivity comes from adequacy and potency of tools. We got a hell of a strong tool in our hands, therefore, the more adequate the usage, the higher the leverage.

Surprised to see this downvoted. It feels true to me. Sure there are definitely novel areas where folks might not benefit but I can see a future where this tool becomes helpful for the vast majority of roles.

This is easily the most groundbreaking news I've heard as a gamer (and from the point of view of an engineer/business geek) in the past four years or so. This will be a really tough blow for the windows platform since the gamer demographic drives a lot of spending. Also it points to a very deep strategic move by valve, vertically integrating the distribution channel and controlling a la Apple which and how games are experienced. I wouldn't be surprised if valve built strong partnerships with hardware providers to provide a fully vertically integrated, key-in-hand gaming platform experience. It is worth mentioning that valve also sells other types of programs through steam... and that it seems this will eventually mutate into it's application store, centralizing the money management for steamOS in general and fully capturing the platform value.

A new apple but instead of "think different", the idea will be "play different"

I would love to see the score distribution and the particular zones where color discrimination is low for the whole population. In my case it seems blue is slightly problematic. Is there anything like this in the webpage besides individual scores?

I found the third row hardest to sort. Is that the same for most people?

The problem is that your debt, if measured at the end of your lifetime, will also balloon WAY out of control. Simple example, 30 years after college, 40k usd in debt gets you to 462k at 8.5% annual. That is, assuming you get a job immediately that truly translates in higher earnings, which a lot of times isn't true.

Well yes you have to pay it back before the end of your lifetime.

WSJ had article on student debt recently, with lots of data. Median debt load was 18-19k USD [1]

If it were all via Federal Stafford loan, the interest rate would be 3.9%. If the payback period was 10 years, the monthly payment would be a whopping $191 per month.

What happens when the repayment power of those that took the loans is crippled by the loans in such a way that they can't fulfill their basic needs? it's gonna happen with a non negligible portion of people

The problem is not the fact that the debt can be wiped, the real concern is that for some people the debt will not be repaid at all and they can't do anything about it. That debt, whether refinanced ( http://www.nbcnews.com/business/obama-signs-student-loan-bil... ) or wiped out, will make banks lose money.

Buckle up.
