I can empathize with your quota....was gifted a FlightWall recently (https://theflightwall.com) and it constantly throws a 'too many flights' indicator given that I live in a major metro with quite a bit of air traffic. I'm sure it was thrilling and terrifying to see your usage spike. Wishing you all the best of luck!
This is really interesting, I'm making something similar as a gift for my wife ( I didn't know this product existed). It's much smaller but shows a map of planes and their live location in the air space near our home.
I have to say though, it's very weird you're hitting API rate limits. airplanes.live is a free no-authentication needed API that lets you poll it 1 time per second, and with each poll it returns flight information for ALL flights in up to (I think) a 250nm radius.
I doubt this commercial product could use that API but my point is that this data isn't that valuable. Additionally for the size of the thing the could just put and adsb receiver in it....
FYI - airplanes.live is run by community hobbyists, who are paying out of pocket to keep the service running - so it's not free (it costs a lot of money to run), and commercial use does break their TOS. If you do use it in any capacity, at the very least please feed back into the network. It is very affordable to do (the SDRs can be had for cheap in various places) and easy to set up.
Coverage is very important - the more feeders the better data everyone will have.
(Not affiliated with them, just a hobbyist myself.)
Yes! I'm working on a feeder setup. But airplanes.live is actually moving away from the free model as of just a few days ago. They're asking for $25/month + a feed now.... Which seems like a lot, I'll still feed if they want it though.
The question I have that no one has really answered is...what kind of crawling have the current frontier labs done historically and what are they continuing to do now for training? Inference can follow rules easily, but the training is a big black box that mostly gets headlines for books getting slashed but that's not the only source of data is it?
Congrats on everything you've accomplished so far! You emphasize two-sided marketplace so, I'm wondering, from y'alls POV which side is more difficult/which side are you going after harder? Naturally you need to do both, but realistically, one side is always more challenging and more important and it's not always obvious which is which.
Awesome question! I've spent all of my time this summer grinding out both the biogas supply and the chemical offtake and I think it will always be slightly easier to convince someone to let you buy something from them than to get someone to buy something from you. We do also intend to always be ahead on biogas supply volumes (ensuring we have more signed biogas supply than signed chemical offtake). Overall I think the biogas supply side is less challenging but I will say that they are equally essential to how we operate.
Forgetting all technical benefits: people will always have opinions on headphones and it's rather fascinating that Apple owns the entire market for fashionable ones, despite there being nothing stopping outside players.
They specifically acquired Beats for this reason to shore up that base, and so far no one has been able to make a dent in the celebrity or influencer space.
The only other pair I've seen treated that way is Nothing's Headphones - although the (maybe niche) musicians I've seen wearing them lean into y2k aesthetics, where Apple's products are more broadly appealing.
There are competing terms currently being decided on by the market at large:
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
Candidly I am working on a startup in this space myself, though we are taking a different angle than most incumbents.
While it's still early days for the space, I sense a lot of the original entrants who focus on, essentially, 'generate more content ideally with our paid tools' will run in to challenges as the general population has a pretty negative perception of 'AI Slop.' Doubly so when making purchasing decisions, hence the rise of influencers and popularity of reviews (though those are also in danger of sloppification).
There's an inevitable GIGO scenario if left unchecked IMO.

It really annoys me the industry seems to be narrowing in on the two worse options rather than AIO.
