I'll be completely honest with you about what I believe: I think the the UK trial unequivocally proved that Johnny Depp is a violent and abusive. The US trial, which was only about defamation, was clearly a sham trial and did not address the legitimacy of the evidence (UK's case found clear evidence for 12 of the 14 alleged incidences of violence. It also established a clear pattern of abuse).
Depp's behavior during the US trial is textbook DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender) and any abuse expert would be able to immediately recognize it.
The reason I "both sides"'d it is because
A) I remember reading about evidence that Heard's team also used bots (obviously much less successfully). I could not find that evidence this time. I am not personally critical of her using bots to defend herself but, if she did, it would still be a notable feature of modern highly public debates.
B) When it was all going down, I remember something like 97% of tiktoks being pro-Depp (I wasn't on TikTok, just read a study). My main goal was to get people to accept the reality that even legal teams are working with PR firms that run massive bot farms to influence public opinion. Regardless of my opinion on who is in the right and who is in the wrong. I thought if I took an explicit side, the male-leaning demographics of HN would be less likely to engage with my actual main point
Is there any writing outside of your recollection that says the Heard side was using bots? Afaik all reporting suggested it was one sided, and not her side
I haven't heard about Heard Bots myself, only the Depp Fakes. It's not an unreasonable question to ask for external corroboration when someone claims that something happened and their source is that they saw it.
Sadly, I am not invested enough to do research on this matter and uninterested in having an LLM convincingly tell me whatever it reads on the internet is the truth about this.
It's not disingenuous? The person you responded to linked to articles which said it was one sided. You said the other opposite, but provided no sources. I asked for some. It's a simple request that was made politely

The whole response is bizarre tbh. Talking about my "sudden" interest. I made one comment. "Deep in the chat". It's quite shallow. I am assuming this is a bot
Depp's bot army was clearly more widespread and more successful. The reality is that it was a mixture of bot armies and the hive mind taking off by itself. A sort of organic-synthetic cyborg
The issue is that there are a bunch of people like this[0] who get incredibly upset and politicize any attempts to be "the adult in the room" and ask for renaming of unsavory names.
The funniest of these is when Europeans talk about how they are being "forced" to comply with American cultural norms and you go through their account and they are so deeply steeped in American culture due to their participation in the anglophone internet spaces which are dominated by them. People in Europe will argue with you that you are importing woke culture if you suggest that they shouldn't say the N word, but are seemingly completely oblivious to the fact that the reason they find the word exciting to say and they say it in English is an import of American culture
> When Outputs are used to train new models without our oversight, additional risks emerge. Safety controls may be lost - ...

> What you can do with Outputs
> You can use Claude's Outputs to train models that don't compete with Anthropic's own models.
Why even include that bullshit at top? It is brazenly obvious to anyone with a brain that Anthropic and other frontier AI Labs have no real way to monetize or recoup their investment unless they strongly guard the usage of their models.
"We need to control the model to protect you from evil robots, except it's fine if the evil robots are not competing with our business" is hilariously hypocritical.
> You can't fund the people who torture and rape random Mexican farmers so Grandma can buy a car.
If you have paid taxes, or participated in the United States of Americas economy, you have directly funded the rape of indigenous Americans, the bombing of Venezuelan fisherman and Iranian schoolgirls.
How do you think the rest of the world should react to this? Total economic embargo towards the US? Leveling the continent?
How should Americans who oppose rape and murder of children (like you seem to be) react to the fact that they fund rapes and murders?
>The moderation team posted an open letter demanding he step down, among other reasons this accused him of jeopardizing the safety of people from "marginalized backgrounds" and allowing "fascists" in the community
>For context, Anduril is a military contractor who produce drones using machine learning on Nvidia GPUs on NixOS as well as ML based systems for detecting migrants on the US-Mexico border, cheapening state violence against migrants.
Given that ICE are currently breaking into peoples apartments and rounding people up into concentration camps, would it not be logical to conclude that the company providing software for the agency are fascists and by extension Eelco relitigating the sponsorship policy can be taken as allowing fascists in the community?
> However, coding in itself generates no value to a business. A business makes money by solving its users' problems; coding is just one of the means to do so.
Coding is the preferred means to solve many problems and the only means to some certain problems. How does it generate no value to a business when businesses are built on solving problem areas with code? What are you talking about?
Yes, this is the exact argument dario is implicitly making by saying that government repression and bioweapons from Chinese models are a danger and then cooperating with Palantir/DOW/US government
Another USian talking about "authoritarian regimes" like their stormtroopers arent executing civilians in the street every day. Every concern about power getting "into the wrong hands" coming from an American is a blatant lie meant to keep the US' position as the world dominant imperialistic force.
