It's imitation, I think. Influencers traveling for clout isn't exactly new, and they got it from existing conventions on social media. So now everybody feels compelled to do the same, or they'll have something to explain.
I doubt bots, the linked page is really boring to read and looks like a dashboard instead of easily consumed reading. I think people are therefore drawing conclusions from the headline more than usual since the link makes the real information sort of opaque.
However it's ignorant to think that there aren't bots on HN and especially for the very many motives people have for swaying public opinion.
Of course, all the latest gains in the latest models are from "thinking" and testing every piece they did.
That's at least my impression. Models didn't get get better, just more thinking and testing and sometimes fixing things you didn't ask for ( hello opus, can you check xxx, opus: I fixed it..)
Next step is a model with 10 GB thinking for ten minutes.
Two cyberattacks that we know of happened this year and the extent of the second one is still unclear at this stage.
This is the same government that has pushed for:
- Chat Control v1 and v2 (client side scanning)
- Id requirement for social media (that just struck down by the courts)
- Arrested of the founder of Telegram because he refused to hand over its users data to the French government and used dubious charges to arrest him
Good luck with that. Mistral is never going to produce a frontier model. Their business model is to rely on the EU regulations and cater to the bureaucracy. I won't be surprised if their next model is specialized on generating laws/regulations for EU lawmakers so they can sell it to EU. That way their business would survive for the next 5-10 years till EU implodes.
Why is it so puzzling? EU has become nothing but an authoritarian regime even violating the sovereignty of member states. It was working fine and well when it was an economic union, but now it has become more of a mafia that infiltrate and try to control every aspect of life of Europeans.
US has been there for more than 250 years. How old is EU? Wait till the French debt crisis triggers the euro collapse and everyone in EU can live like the Greeks after the financial crisis, maybe except for the Germans. They always find a way
Certainly not above reproach, and there are reasons to have beef with them (I know I do). That said, they're doing some aspects of modern democracy better than the US, and we really ought to borrow each other's best ideas.
Democracy and EU in one sentence is quite funny. Non of the top EU heads are elected by people and yet those unelected corrupt heads want to create a surveillance regime. So much for democracy
Because they auto route still your requests, you never know if something costs one coin or a tenth of a coin
